Tone Marks

In Thai, we have 4 difference tone marks call "WAN-NAR-YOOK"(วรรณยุกต์) with 5 tones. They distinguish the meaning of one word from another. Each syllable is pronounced with one of five distinct tones – middle, low, falling, high, or rising.

Thai Vowels

There're 21 vowel characters in Thai language. Combinations of these 21 vowel characters produce 32 different vowel sounds. These 32 sounds are divided into 2 groups, long vowels and short vowels. Let's forget about the 21 vowel characters because they're too complicate and we didn't really need to know them.We will be concentrating on the vowel sounds to us as we try to learn the Thai language for everyday usage.

Writing and Reading Thai Consonants

In Thai, We have 44 Consonances, with diviced into 3 groups: the high tone consonants, the middle tone consonants and the low tone consonants. We group them separately because we have tone in Thai Language. But we don't need to remember all of these, In fact, our 44 have actually 21 initial sounds. That is very easy to learn.
